The Short Version
Booking a celebrant shouldn't feel like a mystery. Here's exactly what happens from the first email to the ceremony itself, whether we're planning a wedding or a farewell.
The First Conversation
-
For Weddings
We'll jump on a free, no-obligation call or meet in person if you'd prefer. I'll ask you about your relationship, your vision for the day, and what you're hoping a ceremony will feel like. You'll ask me anything you want to ask. At the end of that call, you'll have a clear sense of whether we're the right fit.
-
For Farewells
Usually I'll hear from you or your funeral director first. If it's easier, we can speak on the phone or I can come to you. This first conversation is gentle. No forms. No pressure. Just an opportunity to start talking about the person you've lost.
No Pressure, Ever
The Planning
Planning, gathering, personal
For Weddings
Once you've booked, I'll send a planning guide and a questionnaire that helps me properly understand who you are as a couple. We'll arrange follow-up calls or meetings to dig into the detail. I'll also talk to your venue, your photographer, or anyone else who needs to know what's happening.
For Farewells
We'll arrange a family meeting (in person where possible) to gather stories and wishes. This is where I ask the gentle questions that help me write a service that actually sounds like the person we're honouring. You can have as many family members there as you'd like.
Writing the Ceremony
I write every ceremony from scratch. No templates. No copy-and-paste. I'll send the first draft for you to read, and we'll edit together until every line feels right.
Unlimited edits. No rush. This is your ceremony.
The Rehearsal
-
For Weddings
Included as standard. We'll walk through the ceremony in person or on a video call so you and your wedding party know exactly what to expect on the day.
-
For Farewells
A rehearsal isn't always needed, but if your family is involved in readings or tributes, we can absolutely practise together so nobody feels exposed on the day.
The Day Itself
I arrive early. I settle the space. I take the pressure off anyone in your family or wedding party who might otherwise be worrying about logistics. I lead the ceremony calmly and with care, and I hold the room from the first word to the last.
No Pressure, Ever
Afterwards
Beautifully Preserved Memories
You'll receive a beautifully printed copy of the ceremony to keep. For weddings, there's a commemorative certificate. For farewells, there's a full printed service that families often share with loved ones who couldn't attend.
